A jig is a fixture used in manufacturing to hold a part or several parts in a particular orientatilon so another operation may be preformed. Such as a welding "jig" which holds several parts in the proper relationship so they may be welded together. Or a machining "jig" holds a part in a certain orientation for a machining operation. This is the mechanical/manufacturing meanig of a "jig"
